About FRONTIER
FRONTIER is a free, single-player strategy game that runs in your browser with no download. You begin as a landless gang in a neutral town with a little gold and a club. Gather wood, stone and ore, hunt, sell your goods at town markets where prices follow supply and demand, and hire your first mercenaries at the tavern.
Plant your flag in an unclaimed region and your gang grows into a lordship, then a kingdom and finally an empire. Place farms, barracks and towers on your own land, send workers to gather, train soldiers, research new techniques and draw stone walls. Your commanders lead armies in formation, and siege engines help you take walled cities.
Rival lords expand, trade and go to war on their own. Sign pacts and alliances with them, demand tribute or declare war, and win when no rival border is left on the map. Every world is generated from a seed, the whole map is visible from the start, and you can pause at any moment.
Features
- Rise through four ranks, Gang, Lordship, Kingdom and Empire, each unlocking new buildings, troops and treaties.
- Gather, hunt and trade across town markets with changing prices, then send out your own caravans and build harbours.
- Place buildings on your land, put workers to work, train soldiers at barracks, archery ranges and stables, and research 16 studies.
- Lead up to six armies under commanders, with formations, unit counters and siege engines such as rams and catapults.
- Face 1 to 7 rival lords, each with a personality, and deal with them through pacts, trade deals, tribute, alliances, vassalage or war.
- Explore generated worlds in three map sizes with coasts, forests, mountains, roads and walled cities, all made by code without asset files.
- Pause at any time, play at 1x or 3x speed, and keep several save slots with autosave in your browser.
